He married Martha Gilbert (1818-1873) on 29 August 1839 at Stockport, Cheshire. Census returns identify eight children.

He married Louisa Mann (1819-1888) on 14 July 1877 at Pulham Market, Norfolk.   

Thomas died on 27 December 1897 in the Chapel en le Frith, Derbyshire. He was buried at Tideswell, Derbyshire.
