Maund, Samuel (d1862)

Family

Samuel was born at Worcester, Worcestershire. I have not been able to unambiguously identify his parents.

The 1841 census return records Samuel as aged 20 at Twitching, Clungunford, Shropshire.

After leaving the ministry he settled in Dukinfield working as a draper and tea dealer.

He married Eliza Haughton (d1850) in the summer of 1845 at Ashton under Lyne Registration District, Lancashire. Census returns identify two children.

  • Margaretta (1846-1918) – a cotton weaver (1861); married Enoch Stopford Lomas, a colliery clerk (1891), in 1874
  • Mary (b1848) – plater at cotton print works (1861); married William Henry Holmes in 1869

He married Esther Batty (1819-1862) in late 1850 at Ashton under Lyne Registration District, Lancashire. Census returns identify one child.

  • Alfred (1851-1883) – a Prudential agent (1881)

Samuel died on 7 March 1862 at Dukinfield, Cheshire.
