Morley, Joe Allen (1837-1880)

Family

Joe was born abt1837 at Skelmanthorpe, Yorkshire, to parents Joseph, a weaver, and Mary. He was baptised on 15 January 1837 at Emily, Yorkshire.

Before entering the ministry. Joe worked as a weaver (1851). After leaving the ministry Joe worked as a cotton warp dresser.

He married Susan Shaw (1837-1911) in the summer of 1865 in the Huddersfield Registration District, Yorkshire. Census returns identify  two children.

• Joseph Conrad (1866-1929 – landscape artist (1891); artist and art teacher (1911); died at Sacramento, California
• Bernice (1870-1944) – married Arthur Mellor, a teacher (1920); emigrated to USA in 1914

Joe died on 6 June 1880 at Bradford, Yorkshire.
