Marsh, Oscar (1861-1912)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by W.B.

On the 5th of May, 1912, death removed from the Langwith society in the Bolsover Circuit one of God’s true labourers in the person of Oscar Marsh. Born of lifelong Primitive Methodists, at the age of nineteen he gave his heart to God and his powers to His cause.

For many years he was leader of the Sunday morning class, and for a great number of years society steward, an office which he held up to the time of his death. A lover of good music, as choirmaster he greatly improved the order of service.

As cashier to the Sheepbridge Co. at Langwith he had the confidence of his masters and the respect of the miners. A large company followed his remains to the Cuckney churchyard, where the burial service was read by Rev. W. Brown, who also conducted a memorial service on Sunday, May 12th. The bereaved family have our sympathy and prayers.
