Marsland, Daniel (1839-1915)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by F.P. Pearce

Daniel Marsland, who entered the higher service July 23rd, 1915, was born April 23rd, 1839. He was a trustee of Henshaw Street from its beginning, and held an unbroken membership with this society for nearly sixty years. He entered the school as a boy, and served as teacher and then as superintendent for many years.

The late Rev. W. Antliff, D.D., greatly influenced him as a young man. In May, 1900, he removed to Hyde and joined Rosemount. For many years he was treasurer of this trust, and took a deep interest in the whole of the circuit. Though he retained his membership at Henshaw Street, he fulfilled dual responsibility. Both Oldham I. and Newton and Hyde Circuits have lost a fine soul and a liberal man. His is the reward of the faithful.
