Paine (Payne), Thomas (1806-1838)

Ministry

A transcription of THOMAS PAINE’S JOURNAL, 1830, 1831. (Tunstall Circuit.), published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine of 1832, is attached.

Also attached is an obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine 1842. This provides a detailed account of his conversion, ministry and death.

Family

Thomas was born in 1806 at Walsall, Staffordshire, to parents Edward and Hannah. he was baptised on 4 January 1807 at Walsall, Staffordshire.

He married Maria Haughton (Houghton) (abt1808-1835) on 1 July 1834 at Kidderminster. She and an infant child (Thomas) died a year later.

Thomas died on 5 November 1838 at Houghton, nr Oswestry, Shropshire.
