Family

Frederick was born in 1859 at Penzance, Cornwall to parents Edward Powell, a PM minister, and Martha Bower Smith. He was baptised on 8 April 1860 at Penzance.

Census returns identify the following occupations for Frederick.

  • 1891 commercial traveller
  • 1901 manager of music shop and secretary to a property company
  • 1911 draper and house furnisher

He married Emma Ricks (1861-1934) in the summer of 1882 in the Highworth Registration District, Wiltshire. Census returns and birth records identify six children.

Frederick died on 6 November 1928 at Swindon, Wiltshire.
