Phillips, Robert (1857-1942)

Family

Robert was born on 14 July 1857 at Thorney, Cambridgeshire, to parents William Phillips, a carpenter (1861), and Mary Ann Death. He was baptised on 2 August 1857 at Thorney.

The 1871 census return records Robert as a bricklayer’s boy.

Robert transferred to the Church of England ministry.

He married Sarah Hatton (b1859) in the summer of 1881 in the Birkenhead Registration District, Cheshire. Census returns and birth records  identify four children.

• Blanche Florence (1893-1985)              
• Gertrude Ada  Elizabeth Emma (1895-1982) – married Robert Shirley MacDonnell Salt in 1942

Robert died on 10 April 1942 at Ruislip, Middlesex.
