Pithouse, John Thomas (1836-1926)

Family

John was born in 1836 at Eton, Buckinghamshire, to parents John Thomas Pithouse, a bricklayer (1841), and Louisa Wayman. He was baptised on 12 June 1836 at Eton. His brother, Alfred, was also a PM minister.

He married Mary Bond (1838-1925) in the summer of 1863 in the Windsor registration District, Berkshire. Records identify four children.

  • Alfred John Thomas (1864-1944) – a photographer (1924)
  • Horace Bond (1873-1941) – a clerk (1914)
  • Curtis Sydney Albert (1885-1955) – a watchmaker (1903)
  • Florence Maud May (1878-1954)

John died on 5 July 1926) at Portland, Victoria, Australia.

It is called “The Thirty Shilling Horse”. It covers his journeys as a minister to the Wimmera district in Victoria, Australia.
