He married Susannah Stuppel (abt1834-1913) in late 1860 in the Exeter Registration District, Devon. Census returns identify six of eight children.

  • Louisa Annie (1861-1915) – married Joseph Potts, a retired managing director (1911), in 1898
  • Laura Beatrice (1863-1945) – married Spire Dent Chamberlain in 1906
  • Ada Clarissa (1865-1923)
  • Arthur Ernest Dover (1867-1926) – a schoolmaster (1901)
  • Amy Dora Felicia (1871-1945) – married Frederick Thomas Thorp, a manager (1911), in 1898
  • Myra Melina Georgina (1876-1937)

William died in early 1910 at Derby, Derbyshire.
