Holling, Alfred (1843-1924)

Family

Alfred was born on 21 January 1843 at Silkstone, nr Barnsley, Yorkshire, to parents George, a coal miner, and Sarah. He was baptised on 24 February 1843 at All Saints, Silkstone with Stainborough.

Before entering the ministry Alfred worked as coal miner (1861).

The 1871 census return describe Alfred as a widower. I have not been able to identify his first wife.

He married Catherine Rae (abt1838-1910) in the summer of 1877 in the Dewsbury Registration District, Yorkshire. They had one adopted daughter, Hilda Augustine Dewy (b abt1882) who became a music teacher (1911).

Alfred died on 22 May 1924 at Sedgley, Staffordshire.
