Windle, Thomas (1811-1898)
Transcription of Obituary In the Christian Messenger
THOMAS WINDLE was born at Nelson, in 1811, and died December 5th, 1898. When about twenty-seven years of age he removed to Ryecroft, in the Bingley circuit, where for 66 years he took a prominent part in that village cause. He was always fond of music, and took delight in training young people to sing. He was choir-master, and himself the composer of many beautiful tunes, besides being Sunday school teacher and class leader, &c.
Family and other information
Thomas was baptised on 4 September 1814 at Colne, Lancashire, at the same time as his sister. His parents were Christopher, a weaver, and Barbara.

Thomas married Jane Coulton (abt1813-1887) on 10 August 1834 at Bingley, Yorkshire. Census returns identify seven children.

- Sarah (1837-1897) – married Bernard Whitaker, a stone waller (1891), in 1861
- James (b abt1840)
- Barbara (1841-1891) – a weaver (1861); married Thomas Scott in 1864
- Edmund (1843-1909) – a shoemaker
- Elizabeth (b1845) – a weaver (1871)
- Martha Ann (1851-1915) – a weaver (1871); married Joseph Naylor, a baker, in 1876
