Wright, William (1846-1913)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by J.C. Mantripp

On May 11th, 1913, William Wright passed into the world of light. Born at Bringhurst in Leicestershire, he was converted when sixteen years of age, and at once joined the Wesleyan Church. He became a teacher in the Sunday School, and two years later a local preacher. A good student and conscientious in all things, he gave to others that which cost him much.

On coming to Fressingfield, Bro. Wright and his family devoted themselves heartily to our Church. Strong, independent, and yet with heart aflame with desire for righteousness and the reign of God, Bro. Wright exercised an influence that lives. During last winter he was in feeble health, and at the age of sixty-seven he rose up to greet his Lord.

A large company gathered to his burial in the Baptist graveyard. An address was given by the Rev. J.C. Mantripp. The memorial sermon was preached on the following Sunday by Mr. W.J. Sutton.
