Slack, Charles

Research notes

This was probably Charles Slack, born on 28 April 1847 at Bawtry, Yorkshire, to parents John Slack, a shoemaker, and Elizabeth Lindley.

The 1871 census return records Charles as an insurance agent

The family emigrated to the USA in 1875 where he was a Presbyterian minister (1900).

He married Mary (1842-1923) in 1870 in Ireland. Census returns identify three children.

• John Charles (1874-1930) – a hospital superintendent (1920)        
• Annie E (b1875)   
• Ida Mae (b18820 – a clerk in a dry goods store (1910)    

Charles died on 28 May 1916 at Chicago, Illinois, USA
