Stone, Walter (b1853)

Family

Walter was born in 1853 at Goodworth Clatford, Hampshire, to parents Edward Stone, who worked the land (1861), and Abigail Stockwell. He was baptised on 19 June 1853 at Goodworth Clatford.

Before entering the ministry Walter worked as a farm servant (1871).

He married Jessie Fanny Kefford (1861-1933) in the summer of 1880 in the Edmonton Registration District, Middlesex  of Stoke Newington.

  • Walter Kefford (1884-1964) – a shipping clerk (1911)
  • Edmund William (b1887)

Jessie is described as a widow in the 1901 census return. I have not been able to identify Walter after the 1881 census return in oneline records.

  • Walter Edmund Stone is my great grandfather. I am trying to find out what happened to him after he was listed in the 1881 census as a Methodist minister in Battersea. Did he go abroad? If anyone has any information I would be very grateful.
