Hall, Mary (nee Metcalfe) (1831-1914)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by R.W.B.W.

Mary Hall was a saintly soul, and a most devoted member of our Church at Walkden. She and her husband gave themselves to God at the same time, sixty years ago, and they counted it their first duty to erect the family altar. At the present time nearly all their children and grand-children are members and workers in our Church.

She possessed a fine spirit and a charming personality, always full of hope and joy in Christ, and seemed to dwell in the sunshine of heaven. For years she was unable to attend the services of the church, but she never lost interest in it.

She passed away on Monday, June 15th, 1914, and was laid to rest in Walkden Churchyard on June 18th. The service was conducted by Revs. R.W.B. Whiteway and L.J. Jackson. The Sunday following an impressive memorial service was held in the Walkden chapel.
