Hockenhull, Elizabeth Mary (nee Dakin) (1846-1916)

Transcription of obituary published in the Primitive Methodist Magazine by A.J.S.

Mrs. William Hockenhull, of Broadlands, Nantwich and Burland Circuit, peacefully closed her eyes in death on Sunday morning, April 16th, 1916. Her parents were farmers, and formerly occupied Westwood Hall, near Leek. When she came with her parents to reside at Baddington she made the acquaintance of Mr. W. Hockenhull, whom she eventually married.

Life on a large farm makes exacting demands, and Mrs. Hockenhull for many years lived strenuously, knowing little leisure. After forty years they retired, their children being comfortably settled. She was an excellent wife, a real help to her husband.

She was buried amid many tokens of respect, the ministers present being Revs. A. Jackson Smith, H. Smith, W. Wright, Geo. Lee, and F. Cunningham (Wesleyan Superintendent). Farewell, till we meet in the home of God.
