Wood, Jabez Charles (1836-1878)

Kendall records that Jabez was born in the Alford Branch of the Louth circuit.

Family

Jabez was born abt1836 at Theedlethorpe, Lincolnshire, to parents William, who worked the land, and Eleanor.

Census returns identify the following occupations for Jabez.

  • 1861 thrashing machine feeder
  • 1871 traveller with books

He married Emma Potter (abt1844-1884)  on 11 November 1864 at Diss, Norfolk. Census returns identify three children.

  • Harry A (b1866)        
  • Emily Lucretia (1868-1899) – married Walter Walworth Scofield in 1898         
  • Sarah J (b abt1870) – a servant (1891)   

Jabez died in the summer of 1878 in the Hartismere Registration District, Suffolk.
