Lewis was born in 1837 at Bishops Castle, Shropshire, to mother Mary, a washer woman (1841).

  • Edith Mary (1870-1954)
  • Rebecca May (1871-1921) – a dressmaker (1891); married William Hatton, a loco engine driver at gas works (1911), in 1895
  • Constance Alice (b1873)

He married Jane Jones (b abt1859) in early 1909 at Liverpool, Liverpool.

Lewis died on 14 November 1914 at Walker Fold, Chaigley, Lancashire.
