Family
John was born in 1908 at Bishop Auckland, Co. Durham, to parents Benjamin Aquila Barber, a PM minister and Helen Nicholson Yorke.
The 1933 Methodist Who’s Who records that he was educated at Rutherford College. In 1933 he was a lecturer for the Worker’s Educational Association.
After leaving the PM minister John became an Anglican clergyman.
He married Gillian Dawn Cumberlege (b1922) in the spring of 1945 at Holborn, London. Birth records identify five children.

John died on 4 July 1964 at Oxford, Oxfordshire.
