Family
Abel was born in the summer of 1890 at Barnsley, Yorkshire, to parents Thomas/William Briggs, an iron foundry worker, and Emily Hall.
Before entering the ministry, Abel was a teacher.
He was married to May (b abt1889). Records identify three children.
- Ronald (1921-1944) – died in WW2
- A son b abt1925
- A daughter b1927
The family emigrated to South Africa, where Abel continued to be a minister, leaving on 4 July 1931 on the Winchester Castle.
Abel died in Capetown, South Africa in 1955.
