Moses was baptised on 15 May 1827 at Bromham, Wiltshire. he was born at Chittoe, Wiltshire, to parents Moses Breach, a farmer, and Jane Wakeley.
The 1861 census records Moses as a farmer of 21 acres, living with his widowed sister and family. They emigrated to New Zealand, where Moses once again took up a role as a clergyman.
He married Hannah Tayler on 8 December 1859 at Chittoe, Wiltshire.
